After flying high against South Haven Christian last Monday, Clarksville Christian came back down to earth. Clarksville Christian's rough 60-34 loss to Africentric Early College on Saturday might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Clarksville Christian has scored all season.
Clarksville Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Marley Spiers, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and two blocks. Spiers hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games.
Africentric Early College's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kamryn Grant, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Grant grabbed two or more steals. Samairah Thompson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Clarksville Christian's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Africentric Early College, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Clarksville Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Olentangy Liberty at 4:30 p.m. on January 14th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Olentangy Liberty is ranked 38th in Ohio, while Clarksville Christian is ranked 57th in Tennessee). As for Africentric Early College, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eastmoor Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
