Pleasant Grove waltzed into their matchup on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Sheldon Huskies. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Huskies back in April, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.
Madeline Lawson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Logan Paredes was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Shealynn Stinson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Pleasant Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive games.
Pleasant Grove pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Sheldon, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-8-1.
