Baseball Recap: Jefferson Extends Winning Streak to Five

Jefferson extended their winning streak to five on Monday, bumping their season record up to 19-2 in the process. They put the hurt on the Hedgesville Eagles with a sharp 8-0 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

Sam Hefner was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Serf Guerra was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

As for Hedgesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered against Jefferson since April 18, 2023.

On Hedgesville's side, they got a good showing from Mason McGill, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. McGill has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Jefferson is set to face off against their familiar foe Musselman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Cougars' favor as the squad sits on 17 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Applemen have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Hedgesville will challenge rival Martinsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
