The Mansfield Timberview Wolves will venture away from home to take on the Mansfield Summit Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Mansfield Timberview sitting on three straight wins and Mansfield Summit on four.
On Friday, Mansfield Timberview earned a 30-23 victory over Seguin.
Mansfield Timberview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braylin Barnett led the charge by picking up 108 receiving yards and three TDs. The Wolves also got a significant boost from Davin Hill, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 99 yards.
Another reason for the win was Mansfield Timberview's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Ernesto Loeung Chavez, Jarvis Smith, and Caden Bates, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Seguin's side was Loeung Chavez, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made ten total tackles.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mansfield Summit challenged The Colony on Friday. The Jaguars enjoyed a cozy 34-17 win over the Cougars. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Jaguars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Cougars are ranked 223rd).
Mansfield Timberview better keep an eye on Adarion Nettles. He was instrumental in Mansfield Summit's win, rushing for 220 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 12.9 yards per carry. Nettles is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Omogbolahan Daudu also helped out as he racked up 103 rushing yards.
Mansfield Summit was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 404 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 282 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.
Mansfield Timberview's record is now 4-2. As for Mansfield Summit, their record now sits at 4-1.
