If the Palm Beach Central Broncos were feeling good off their 47-23 takedown of the Wellington Wolverines last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Palm Beach Central took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Suncoast on Thursday. The game was a 29-29 toss-up at halftime, but Palm Beach Central was outscored by Suncoast in the second.
Despite the loss, Palm Beach Central saw an underclassman step up: Izabelle Vilmont scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vilmont has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Powell, who scored seven points.
Suncoast's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Philleah Bright, who scored 24 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Keyanna Goss was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with nine rebounds.
Palm Beach Central now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Suncoast, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palm Beach Central the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Atlantic at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Atlantic is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Suncoast, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Broward Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. North Broward Prep is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.9 points per game.
