Los Fresnos' tough 38-14 loss to San Benito on Friday might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Los Fresnos in their matchups with San Benito: they've now lost eight in a row.
Los Fresnos' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Robert Pineda, who threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Lucky Perales, who picked up 98 receiving yards and a touchdown.
San Benito had a senior duo take command as Fabian Garcia gained 224 total yards and two touchdowns and Aaron Corona threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns while completing 94.1% of his passes. Garcia was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 61 yards. Justin Montemayor also helped out with an impressive 85 receiving yards.
Los Fresnos' defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for San Benito, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Los Fresnos will head out on the road to face off against Harlingen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Harlingen is on a three-game streak of home wins, Los Fresnos a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. San Benito will take on Weslaco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
