Softball Recap: Port St. Joe Wins Going Away Against Marianna

While Port St. Joe put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Marianna. Port St. Joe blew past Marianna 17-0. The result was nothing new for the Tiger Sharks, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Brooklyn Bishop made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Bishop was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addy Silcox, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Trinity Farmer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Port St. Joe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marianna only posted an OBP of .143.

The victory made it two in a row for Port St. Joe and bumps their season record up to 7-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Marianna, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Port St. Joe and Sneads will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on the 25th. Port St. Joe's pitchers better be ready for this one: Sneads has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Marianna, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Holmes County at 6:00 p.m. on the 25th.
