The Highland Park Owls were the 53-47 winner over the Dunellen Destroyers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Highland Park took a 51-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dunellen.
Dunellen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Hutchins led the charge by scoring 18 points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamael Davis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Highland Park's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Dunellen, their victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.
Highland Park will face off against South Amboy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Dunellen, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Perth Amboy Vo-Tech at 5:30 p.m.
