School of the Woods has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Veritas Classical Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
School of the Woods struggled with threes two weeks ago (Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy had 600% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. School of the Woods ended up on the wrong side of a rough 65-45 walloping at the hands of Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy. While losing is never fun, School of the Woods can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 908th, while Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy is ranked 272nd).
Despite the loss, School of the Woods got a solid performance out of Tyler Gwinn, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was Gwinn's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Adam Zagaar, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Veritas Classical Academy managed to keep up with Legacy Christian Academy until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Veritas Classical Academy was the victim of a tough 61-39 loss at the hands of Legacy Christian Academy. Veritas Classical Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Veritas Classical Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ty Merrill, who scored 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. Merrill scored a full 35.9% of Veritas Classical Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Strahan, who scored 16 points.
School of the Woods has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Veritas Classical Academy, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 1-2.
