Given Brandon's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Oak Grove is ranked 141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brandon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braylon Barnes, who scored 20 points along with four steals. Barnes is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ottis Harrison, who scored 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Brandon's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-11. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Oak Grove, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brandon will square off against Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oak Grove, they will head out on the road to take on Northwest Rankin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Rankin is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
