Ell-Saline (Brookville, Kan.) scored 16 points in the third quarter to secure a big 22-0 victory over
Plainville (Kan.) on Saturday.
The Cardinals scored on a touchdown pass by
Garrett Walker to
Keegan Hays and a
Justin Schmutz touchdown run in the quarter.
Ell-Saline was up 6-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Walker to Hays in the second quarter.
ES expanded its lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. The Brookville school scored four times in the third, including once on a Walker touchdown pass to Hays.
The Cardinals' standout player in the win was Walker. He threw two touchdowns. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
Ell-Saline got revenge for last year's 32-13 loss to the Cardinals with the victory.
The win was a nice bounce back for ES, which lost to Sedgwick last week, 19-12.
In a non-conference game next week Ell-Saline (4-1) takes on Smith Center, and Plainville (2-3) will go up against Bennington also in a non-conference game.
