Football Recap: Marquez Skates Past Santee with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Eagle Rock, Marquez was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Santee Falcons 50-0. The result was nothing new for the Gladiators, who have now won five games by 41 points or more so far this season.

Marcus Juan produced another solid performance rushing for 188 yards and two scores on only 12 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelo Gutierrez-Molina, who threw for 139 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Marquez was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 325 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Marquez didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Anthony Ford. Elyjah Staples was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Marquez's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Santee, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
