The St. John Woodchucks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight defeat. They fell 64-54 to Park River/Fordville-Lankin. St. John was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Aggies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2017.
Several Woodchucks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cashmyn Belgarde, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Simon LaRocque, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
St. John has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Park River/Fordville-Lankin, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13.
St. John will head out on the road to take on the Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in North Star co-op [Cando/Bisbee-Egeland/Munich/Starkweather]'s favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Woodchucks have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Park River/Fordville-Lankin will take on the Polar Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Larimore focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
