The Coldwater Cavaliers will be home for the holidays to greet the St. Henry Redskins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Coldwater will be strutting in after a victory while St. Henry will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Coldwater has not done well against Jackson Center recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Coldwater came out on top against Jackson Center by a score of 51-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Coldwater.
Meanwhile, St. Henry pushed their score all the way to 68 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 79-68 to Shawnee. While losing is never fun, St. Henry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Shawnee is ranked 116th).
Despite their loss, St. Henry saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Evan Bowers, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 10 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Hayden Boeckman was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 3 steals.
Coldwater's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for St. Henry, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Coldwater came up short against St. Henry when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 64-58. Can Coldwater avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
