Baseball Recap: Salida Has No Trouble Against Mitchell

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cedaredge, Salida was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Mitchell Marauders 14-4. The Spartans not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12, 2024.

Scout Presley and Brody Hudson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Presley pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hudson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Presley a new career-low in walks (zero). At the plate, Presley scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Hudson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases. Hudson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Canin Becker was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Hudson Fisher was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Salida always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mitchell only posted an OBP of .393.

Salida now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mitchell, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Salida will take on Olathe in a tournament on Friday. Olathe will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Salida surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mitchell, they will head out on the road to square off against The Classical Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Mitchell will need to watch out since The Classical Academy has now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
