Hernando Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Central and snuck past 23-21. That's two games straight that Hernando Christian Academy has won by exactly two points.
Hernando Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Neaya Richardson, who scored four points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Richardson hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Briauna Richardson, who scored five points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leilani White, who scored six points along with four steals. Anyah Bonneau was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Hernando Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Central, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-20.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hernando Christian Academy on the road again on Thursday and play against Lakeside Christian at 4:30 p.m. on February 1st. As for Central, they will take on Classical Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Classical Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 41 on Friday.
