After losing to the Chapel Hill Tigers the last time they met, the Riverside-Durham Pirates decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Riverside-Durham snuck past Chapel Hill with a 48-42 victory on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Riverside-Durham.
It was another big night for Corey Hairston Jr., who scored 21 points. Mekhi Sneed was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrew Herring, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Cohen Vogel, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Riverside-Durham is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Chapel Hill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-6.
Riverside-Durham will look to defend their home court on Friday against Jordan at 8:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Jordan is ranked 104th, while Riverside-Durham is ranked 113th). As for Chapel Hill, they will head out on the road to challenge Northern Durham at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Chapel Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
