Heart of the Plains (8 Man) recap October 29, 2013
South Barber extended the longest winning streak in Heart of the Plains (8 Man) this week by beating Norwich, 62-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Fairfield was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting St. John. The Falcons came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
South Barber's dynamic duo of Peyton Yandel and Dylan Allison proved to be unstoppable against the Eagles, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Yandel threw for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns and Allison had 70 yards receiving. Gavin Doherty helped South Barber's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 63 yards.
Dustin Weber was a force in the backfield as Skyline beat Macksville.
Weber provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Thunderbirds topped the Mustangs. He completed 2 passes for 17 yards and also ran for 349 yards. Weber's key target this week was Brandon Abbott, who caught 3 passes for 41 yards.
Norwich's Jacob Norris and Lucas Lohrman have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Norris has thrown for 1,245 yards this season, while Lohrman has 42 catches for 812 yards. Stafford's Ethan Johnson leads the league in rushing yards with 1,227.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Tim Rector's team takes on Cunningham. At the moment, the Chieftains are in second, while the Wildcats are in eighth.
Fairfield took down the Tigers 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
