The Eastern Tech Mavericks will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Fort Hill Sentinels at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastern Tech is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Wednesday, Eastern Tech strolled past Carver A&T with points to spare, taking the game 65-46. Given Eastern Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Carver A&T is ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eastern Tech's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jericho Wondeye, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, and Matthew Foley, who scored 23 points along with seven steals. Foley is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jake Prior was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Fort Hill fought the good fight in their overtime game against Berlin Brothersvalley on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 75-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountaineers. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Eastern Tech's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Fort Hill, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1.
Eastern Tech was taken down by Fort Hill 79-49 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Eastern Tech, Mikey Allen (who scored 24 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
