Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Downtown Magnets to victory, but perhaps none more so than Justin Huang, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 17 points and four steals. Huang has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Angel Orozco was another key player, putting up six points in addition to nine steals and seven boards.
Maywood Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Rodrigo Miranda, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 16 assists. That's the most assists he has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Oscar Lepe, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds.
Downtown Magnets' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points over those games. As for Maywood Academy, they moved to 16-14 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Downtown Magnets didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-52 win against Huntington Park on the 25th. Maywood Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
