Spalding is 8-2 against Howard since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Spalding Jaguars the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Howard Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. One thing working in Spalding's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
Two weeks ago, Spalding didn't have too much trouble with Jackson at home as they won 57-40. With that victory, Spalding brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.
Spalding had a senior duo take command as Jala Morgan scored 18 points and Chayce Matthews scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morgan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chyna Mccord, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Howard's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They fell 51-43 to West Laurens.
Spalding pushed their record up to 11-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Howard, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
Everything came up roses for Spalding against Howard in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 62-25 win. Does Spalding have another victory up their sleeve, or will Howard turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
