The Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves pushed their score all the way to 56 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 77-56 loss to Somerset College Prep Academy might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Oxbridge Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 477th, while Somerset College Prep Academy is ranked 105th).
Somerset College Prep Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayla Curry, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. Kaeley Ciceron was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Oxbridge Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oxbridge Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome North Broward Prep at 5:00 p.m. on December 14th. North Broward Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Oxbridge Academy likes a good challenge. Somerset College Prep Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Lincoln Park Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Park Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
