4A District 4 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Poteau's Roger Barcheers recorded the longest rushing play in 4A District 4 this season in his game against Sallisaw last week. Barcheers scampered for 58 yards on the play and finished with 119 on the day as his team lost to the Black Diamonds.
College was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Ropers defeated the Ropers 59-8.
Muldrow's dynamic duo of Dawson Floyd and Colton Keith proved tough for Broken Bow to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Floyd threw for 267 yards and Keith had 106 yards receiving. Dominic Blue helped Muldrow's passing attack out by catching four balls for 90 yards.
The Bulldogs' Floyd and Keith have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Floyd has thrown for 460 yards this season, while Keith, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 15 catches for 200 yards. Poteau's Barcheers leads the league in rushing yards with 466.
Two of the top units in 4A District 4 will face off this week when Greg Werner's team takes on Stilwell. The Pirates' offense has recorded 88 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Indians have permitted only 147 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Savages take on Fort Gibson. Broken Bow is currently in fourth, while the Tigers are in first.
Fort Gibson extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating College, 59-8. The victory was the fourth in a row for James Singleton's team.
