The Blair Blazers lost against the Wootton Patriots back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Blair took a 66-47 bruising from Wootton. While losing is never fun, Blair can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while Wootton is ranked 70th).
Leading Wootton to victory were Taj Smith and Yassine Idrissa. Smith scored 20 points along with six rebounds, while Idrissa scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Idrissa scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Khairi Hyde, who scored seven points along with ten assists.
Blair's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Wootton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blair will take on Paint Branch at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Paint Branch is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Wootton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Watkins Mill at 7:15 p.m. Watkins Mill has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
