Berean Christian hasn't had much luck against Cardinal Newman recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Berean Christian made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Boca Raton Christian, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bulldogs blew past the Blazers 28-12 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Julianne Severson and Marie Poulette did most of the damage at the plate: Severson scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Poulette went 2-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those five runs gave Severson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Britton, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Berean Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cardinal Newman). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Forest Hill a 20-0 shutout on Monday. The Crusaders have beaten the Falcons the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Falcons has come to flipping the script.
Maeve Adams made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Cardinal Newman let Reese Khanna and Elle Perrotto run wild. Khanna scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Perrotto went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Annabelle Walsh also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
The win made it two in a row for Berean Christian and bumps their season record up to 7-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.5 runs over those games. As for Cardinal Newman, their record now sits at 4-12.
Cardinal Newman's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Berean Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Cardinal Newman, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given Berean Christian's sizable advantage in that area, the Crusaders will need to find a way to close that gap.
Berean Christian might still be hurting after the 28-1 loss they got from Cardinal Newman in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
