The Mount Anthony Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Bellows Falls Terriers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mount Anthony comes in on seven and Bellows Falls on four.
Mount Anthony had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Fair Haven on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitcher stepped up to hand the Slaters a 14-0 shutout. Considering the Patriots have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hunter Sherwin made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Mount Anthony got a massive performance out of Jacoby Dicranian, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Dicranian is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Colby Hill was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Bellows Falls faced Green Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Terriers walked away with an 8-4 win over the Chieftains.
Like Mount Anthony, Bellows Falls also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaden Bazin. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bazin was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Bazin wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Tostrup, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Another was Steven Joslyn, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Mount Anthony's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bellows Falls, their record now sits at 11-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mount Anthony has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bellows Falls struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Mount Anthony's way against Bellows Falls when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Mount Anthony made off with a 9-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
