Freer is 0-9 against the Cougars since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Freer Buckaroos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Santa Maria Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Freer didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Seahawks, but they still walked away with a 50-45 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Freer.
Freer found their leader in underclassman Ayden Ramirez, who scored 18 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Abel Maldonado, who scored 13 points along with three blocks.
Meanwhile, Santa Maria scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Premont 95-16 at home. The win was nothing new for Santa Maria as they're now sitting on six straight.
Freer is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-17 record this season. As for Santa Maria, they pushed their record up to 8-11 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
