The Greenville Red Raiders had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 50.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 48-7 victory over Greenwood on the road. The result was nothing new for Greenville, who have now won four matchups by 41 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Mazeo "mj" bennett, who rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns. "mj" bennett was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Rashaad Robinson, who rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Greenville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Greenwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenville will take on Easley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Easley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Greenville is ranked 21st). As for Greenwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pickens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pickens is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
