After a string of five wins, the Antioch Sequoits's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were the victim of a rough 57-36 defeat at the hands of Grayslake Central. Antioch was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.
Despite the loss, Antioch saw an underclassman step up: Heidi Rathmann scored 15 points. That was a full 41.7% of Antioch's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adelie Gomez, who scored seven points.
Antioch's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Grayslake Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Antioch will take on the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grayslake North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 571st, while the Sequoits are ranked 252nd). As for Grayslake Central, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m.
