There's no place like home for the Asbury Rams, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Brindlee Mountain by a score of 60-50 on Monday. That's another feather in the cap for Asbury, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Brindlee Mountain's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Autumn Abernathy, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Abernathy is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Devon Murray, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Asbury pushed their record up to 15-10 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Brindlee Mountain, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Asbury will take on the Bears at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Plainview presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Rams in Alabama (the Bears are ranked 24th, while the Rams are ranked 226th). As for Brindlee Mountain, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Crossville has now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28.
