Softball Recap: Tylertown Sets Scoring Season-High Against East Marion

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tylertown). They were the clear victor by a 16-3 margin over the East Marion Eagles on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Chiefs have posted since April 16, 2024.

Edranna Ray made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Ray was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mar'Keriyah Youngblood, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Talish Lewis, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Tylertown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .743. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Tylertown's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for East Marion, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Tylertown and East Marion will both be playing McComb the next time they take the field. Tylertown will head out to face McComb at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while East Marion will play them later in the day, at 9:00 a.m.
