The Elgin Wildcats will be playing at home against the Pflugerville Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Elgin is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Elgin's 8-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 27-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of University.
Elgin's defeat came about despite a quality game from Nathen Lewis, who rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Paden Maass did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and two extra points.
Meanwhile, Pflugerville had to endure a eight-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They snuck past University with a 30-26 victory two weeks ago.
Pflugerville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cole Taylor out in front who threw for 345 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Kyran Mcfrazier, who picked up 177 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Pflugerville's win bumped their season record to 1-6 while Elgin's defeat dropped theirs to 3-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday' match: Elgin has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 164.7 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Pflugerville, though, as they've been averaging only 89.9 per game. How will Pflugerville fare against such a dominant running game?
Elgin skirted past Pflugerville 17-14 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Does Elgin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pflugerville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
