Tri-Valley is 2-8 against Williams Valley since October of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tri-Valley Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Williams Valley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Tri-Valley beat Marian Catholic 16-6.
Tri-Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cole Gemberling led the charge by rushing for 84 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Williams Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past Shenandoah Valley 54-0 on the road. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Williams Valley had established a 40 point advantage.
Williams Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alex Achenbach, who rushed for 237 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Achenbach is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Shoop, who rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns.
Tri-Valley now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Williams Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Tri-Valley has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 180.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Williams Valley struggles in that department as they've been even better at 294.3 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
