Jay is 1-9 against Warren since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Jay Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warren Warriors at 1:30 p.m. One thing working in Jay's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 15 matchups.
Jay pushed their score all the way to 62 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between Jay and O'Connor wasn't particularly close, with Jay falling 76-62. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (59), Jay still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Elijah Baldwin, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarrius Jackson Jr, who scored 21 points.
Jay struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Warren pushed their score all the way to 60 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-60 to Holmes.
Jay's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 17-6. As for Warren, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-19 record this season.
Jay strolled past Warren in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 61-45. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Warren's Devin Petersen, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Jay still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
