The Roaring Fork Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Meeker by a score of 43-41. While losing is never fun, Roaring Fork can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Meeker is ranked 89th).
Roaring Fork's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ethan Wilson, who scored 12 points, and Kiko Pena who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds and three steals. Pena continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Carballeira, who scored eight points.
Meeker's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jace Mobley, who scored 17 points. The game was Mobley's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jonathan Fitzgibbons was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Roaring Fork has fallen quite a ways from their 17-7 record last season and are now at 1-7. As for Meeker, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Roaring Fork is on the road again on Friday and play against Cedaredge at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Cedaredge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday. As for Meeker, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Olathe at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Olathe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Friday.
