The Hutchinson-Central Tech Engineers will be playing at home against the East Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-44, which was the final score in Hutchinson-Central Tech's tilt against Health Sciences Charter on Tuesday. Hutchinson-Central Tech has not had much luck with Health Sciences Charter recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, East's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. The matchup between them and Health Sciences Charter wasn't particularly close, with East falling 72-53. While losing is never fun, East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 732nd, while Health Sciences Charter is ranked 82nd).
Despite their loss, East saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jussean Pearsall, who scored 20 points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 37.7% of East's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mysean Morrison, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Hutchinson-Central Tech's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for East, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-13.
Everything went Hutchinson-Central Tech's way against East in their previous matchup back in January as Hutchinson-Central Tech made off with a 76-55 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Pearsall, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 13 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Hutchinson-Central Tech still be able to contain Pearsall? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
