The Otsego Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to Rossford. Otsego was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rossford apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jocelyn Cornell, who scored 22 points. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for Cornell. Sam Lehr was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Otsego were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Otsego bumped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.5 points per game. As for Rossford, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Otsego will be home for the holidays to greet Eastwood at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eastwood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Otsego in Ohio (Eastwood is ranked 288th, while Otsego is ranked 674th). Rossford will be home for the holidays to greet Oak Harbor at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oak Harbor's defense has only allowed 28.2 points per game this season, so Rossford's offense will have their work cut out for Rossford.
