Baseball Game Preview: Pathfinder RVT Pioneers vs. Drury Blue Devils

The Pathfinder RVT Pioneers will square off against the Drury Blue Devils on Monday. Pathfinder RVT is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Pathfinder RVT is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Turners Falls, sneaking past 6-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pioneers.

Pathfinder RVT's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zander Auffrey, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave Auffrey a new career-high. Another was Derek Rivera, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Drury won against McCann Tech last Wednesday with two runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Blue Devils beat Greenfield by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. The victory was nothing new for the Blue Devils as they're now sitting on three straight.

Connor Hinkell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Pathfinder RVT's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Drury, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pathfinder RVT has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Drury struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Pathfinder RVT skirted past Drury 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
