Newton won the last time they faced Waterloo East, and things went their way on Friday, too. Newton made easy work of Waterloo East and carried off a 55-33 win. The success made it back-to-back wins for Newton.
Newton's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 27 points in the first half. Waterloo East matched them to leave it all tied up at 27-27. The offense put that tie to bed by coming up with 28 points in the second half to win the game. The win got Newton back to even at 2-2. Waterloo East are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-4.
Newton will look to defend their home turf next week against South Tama County at 7:00 PM. The team will be hoping to continue their now three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. Waterloo East will stay at home against Charles City at 7:00 PM.
