A big part of Shannon's victory came down to the chemistry between Trey Spurgon and his top target Dagarrious Clifton. Spurgon threw for 225 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes while Clifton picked up 177 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 89 yards. Kegan Ruff helped Spurgon out on the ground, rushing for 115 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
