Softball Recap: Danvers Has No Trouble Against Saugus

Danvers won the last time they faced Saugus and things went their way on Saturday too. The Falcons blew past the Sachems 9-3. Considering the Falcons have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Addi McCarty, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Mandi Hartley also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Danvers hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Danvers is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Saugus, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6.

Looking ahead, Danvers will take on Lowell Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. As for Saugus, they will face off against Peabody Veterans Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
