Concrete has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Almira-Coulee-Hartline Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Saturday, while Concrete put up plenty of points, the same can't be said for Oakville. Concrete simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Oakville 64-0 at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Concrete's two-point performance the contest before.
Concrete got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Josiah Rider out in front who rushed for 119 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 35 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Rider hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jakob Lofton, who rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Oakville to a paltry 185 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Concrete's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out 13 times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with four guys contributing.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Almira-Coulee-Hartline walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 50-8 win over Waterville/Mansfield at home. The victory was nothing new for Almira-Coulee-Hartline as they're now sitting on three straight.
Carter Pitts went supernova for Almira-Coulee-Hartline, rushing for 218 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Pitts' longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Grindy, who picked up 98 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Concrete pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Oakville, Charles Wright, and Tulalip Heritage. As for Almira-Coulee-Hartline, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Concrete has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 193.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Almira-Coulee-Hartline struggles in that department as they've been even better at 328.9 per game. It's looking like Saturday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
