The Hebron Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Emerson Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hebron had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They blew past Independence 63-41. Given Hebron's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Independence is ranked 837th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Emerson waltzed into Tuesday's contest with two straight wins but they left with three. Everything went their way against Panther Creek as Emerson made off with a 74-50 win.
Emerson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert Black, who scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Black hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was James Sanderson, who scored 16 points along with 6 assists.
Hebron's win lifted them to 9-5 while Independence's defeat dropped them down to 4-9.
