Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, the South Broward Bulldogs couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 20-13 to Belen Jesuit on Thursday. South Broward has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chris Wheatley-humphrey, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Wheatley-humphrey has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Randy Phillips, who threw for 190 yards and a touchdown.
Belen Jesuit can attribute much of their success to Khamani Alexander, who rushed for 232 yards.
South Broward's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Belen Jesuit, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.
South Broward does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Belen Jesuit will head out on the road to face off against Miramar at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. Miramar will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
