The Gatewood Gators came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Westminster Christian Academy by a score of 78-68. Given Gatewood's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Lions are ranked 534th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gatewood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaden Keiser, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Keiser has scored all season. Blake Callaway was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Gatewood's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. As for Westminster Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gatewood will face off against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Piedmont Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday. As for Westminster Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
