Arlington is on a four-game streak of home wins, while St. Benedict at Auburndale is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will host the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Arlington had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Briarcrest Christian on Thursday. The Tigers were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Saints. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won eight in a row.
Arlington got a great performance from Gabby Brewer as she tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, Brewer posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Lillian Hatch was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Morgan Cooper, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Benedict at Auburndale never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Munford.
Zoie Bernard was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two triples. She is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Spence, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
St. Benedict at Auburndale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
St. Benedict at Auburndale has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Arlington, their win bumped their record up to 14-11-2.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arlington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like St. Benedict at Auburndale struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Arlington was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Benedict at Auburndale in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 10-5. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
