Jonathan Tipton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ben McLean was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Sam Buerck was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Denver Christian has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.4 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They came up short against Forge Christian, falling 10-3. The Thunder's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Patrick Elson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
Forge Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Denver Christian, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-2.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Forge Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Denver Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
