The McKenzie Eagles lost against the Yoncalla Eagles last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. McKenzie lost to Yoncalla on the road by a decisive 53-36 margin. McKenzie has not had much luck with Yoncalla recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Griffin Withalm and Will Meister certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Withalm scored 12 points along with six steals, while Meister scored 11 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him.
McKenzie's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.6 points per game. As for Yoncalla, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McKenzie will take on Prospect at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Yoncalla won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Monroe at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Monroe comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
