Following an on-court brawl that halted the final of the Camden County Tournament between
Camden and
Eastside (Camden) in New Jersey on Thursday night, the Camden City School District has removed both teams from the NJSIAA state tournament.
Due to the disciplinary action, the spectacular high school basketball career of five-star Kentucky signee
D.J. Wagner is over and Camden sees its season – and state championship hopes – come to an abrupt end. The Panthers are ranked No. 6 in the MaxPreps Top 25 with a record of 23-2.
Wagner ends his four-year high school career with a record of 94-5 and 2,040 points. He helped Camden to three straight MaxPreps Top 25 finishes.
The 6-foot-3 guard led the Panthers in scoring all four seasons with the team, averaging 19.5 points as a freshman, 22.0 points as a sophomore, 19.8 points as a junior and 22.5 points this year during his senior campaign.
D.J. joined his father Dajuan (3,462 points) and his
grandfather Milt (2,003 points) in the 2,000-point club last week, becoming the
first family in high school basketball history to have three generations
pass that threshold.
The Wagner family is arguably the most decorated family in high school
basketball history. D.J. became
the first third generation McDonald's All-American
selection, following in the steps of Milt (1981)
and Dajuan (2001).
