Volleyball Recap: Laguna Beach Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Laguna Beach Breakers came up short against the University Trojans and fell 3-1.

Laguna Beach started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-14.

Despite the loss, Laguna Beach saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dylan Sweet had 14 digs. The dominant performance gave Sweet a new career-high in digs. Perry Ribarich also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Laguna Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for University, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Laguna Beach will venture away from home to challenge El Toro at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for University, they will welcome Woodbridge at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
